The Boise State Broncos will play Illinois for the first time since 2009 this Monday in the second round of the NIT. Boise State advanced to the second round after a 73 to 68 victory against Utah. Illinois finished 9th in the Big 10.

The Broncos will have to look for a different kind of help coming from underneath after a dislocated shoulder injury against the Utah team took out sophomore David Wacker. Wacker has started 28 games this season, and before his injury, was the number 2 rebounder this year.

Head Coach Leon Rice said that although Wacker’s injury puts the team at a disadvantage, the other team members will pull the weight of the missing player.

"That’s a tough one to come back from,” Rice said. “It’s probably going to be it for David.  The good thing for us is we’ve got three bigs we have playing. They've all gotten experience, now those two others, their roles are going to have to increase and they are going to have to play better and they are going to have to be a big factor for us.”
