The Idaho Vandals won on the road last night against UNLV. Callen Hightower hauled in an 11-yard touchdown pass in overtime to give the Vandals a 33 to 30 win. Hightower was one of six receivers to catch a ball, and his four matched those of Deon Watson.

Quarterback Matt Linehan finished 17 of 35 for 249 yards and added 19 more yards on the ground, including a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Running back Aaron Duckworth finished his night with 90 yards on 20 carries that also included a touchdown. The ground game scratched out 129 yards with Duckworth’s team best set last night.

Linebacker Ed Hall had a stellar night with 15 total tackles but Kaden Elliss was a show stopper with two interceptions. Jayshawn Jordan also had nine tackles and Russell Siavii and Tueni Lupeamanu had eight each. Coach Petrino says he’s impressed with the teamwork he’s seeing.

“It’s unbelievable. It’s good. I’ve been a part of FBS championships bowl games, part of all kinds of conference championships games, but just where the program is at and where we need to get. That’s just as proud of a group of guys that I’ve ever been and as happy of an environment that I have ever been in,” said Head Coach Paul Petrino
