The Idaho Steelheads hit the ice for the first time this season tomorrow night at CenturyLink arena.

The Steelheads wrapped up camp this morning and finalized their opening day roster

The emphasis in the offseason was putting speed on the ice. And Bench Boss Neil Graham thinks they've done it.

"I think the big thing for tomorrow night we are a fast team so let's play to our strengths.  Let's use our speed play with some pace.  Mistakes are going to happen but let's make them aggressively and let's not sit back,” said Head Coach Neil Graham.

"We are going to push the pace in every game that we play and I think that we will make it tough for other teams to defend us.  We also will be able to play good defense so we will be in good position, and we will try and play with a lot of speed on the ice," said Defensemen Joe Faust.

The Idaho Steelheads also announced that former captain and all-time leading scorer Marty Flichel will be rejoining the organization as a member of the broadcast team this season, serving as a color analyst for steelheads games on KTIK radio and on Cable One.

This will be Flichel’s first formal role with the organization since his retirement from the ECHL in 2011.  He will join Brian Mccormack on the broadcast providing in-game commentary and interviews from ice level.

“I haven’t had a regular position in the organization for five years, and I missed being in the arena on a regular basis and seeing a lot of my friends,” said Flichel. “I’m excited to be back.”
