New rivalry with BYU

It’s been six years since Boise State has played in-state rival Idaho and the way the Mountain West Schedule goes Boise State will not face Nevada, Fresno State or San Diego State every year.

With that said a new rivalry has been made with the likes of BYU.  In the last four meetings between the two schools, the Cougars have won two of them with one of those wins coming at the hands of Eagle High grad Tanner Mangum.

He led the Cougars in the closing seconds to beat Boise State 35-24 last season.

For the players, it's a rivalry, but to Coach Harsin, it's just another game on the schedule.

“I think there is a rivalry there and we are definitely looking forward to it especially on a short week.  It will be a great challenge for our team and I think we are going to be prepared,” said Senior Wide Receiver Thomas Sperbeck.

“I guess I really don’t look at it like that more.  Every team that we play we are out there preparing the same way.  You know every week for us is the same mentality, we got to go out there it doesn’t really change how we are going to operate going into the game,” said, Head Coach Bryan Harsin.
