The offseason is time for the Boise state football team to learn the playbook and improve on the mistakes that they made last year.

It's also a way for player-run practices to figure out who will be the leaders for next season.

On the offensive side of the ball, local product Jake Knight from rocky mountain high school has emerged as a candidate to lead Boise State at tight end.

Last season he played in all of 13 games.  He might not have found the end zone but his fun loving attitude is surely rubbing off on others.

"Just being around a guy like Jake just brings you up and makes you want to do even better and work hard every day.  it's just fun being around him cause he brings great energy.  When we are getting ready for a lift and its seven in the morning and everybody is dead tired and he is running around yelling and getting everybody jacked up it makes for a good fun morning," said, Boise State Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch.
