Two College of Idaho student-athletes were among only 23 players who were recruited to the 2016 Sporting News Preseason NAIA All-American Football team. Junior tight end Marcus Lenhardt and senior defensive back Nate Moore were honored after receiving honors at the All-Frontier Conference last season.

Lenhardt is a two-time All-Frontier Conference tight end, and let all NAIA tight ends in receptions, with 40 catches for 573 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Moore was named to the All-Frontier Conference team and led the conference with six interceptions during the 2015 season.

The College of Idaho was one of only three schools which had multiple players named to the team. The NAIA champion, Marian had two selections and so did the national quarterfinalist, Saint Xavier.
