Hockey season is finally upon us in the Treasure Valley, the Steelheads began training camp! The Steelies have never missed the playoffs and are amped up and ready for another season on the ice.

As of now, the steelheads have sixteen players on the roster, including four returning players from last season.
Head Coach Neil Graham enters his second season as bench boss, and with day one in the books, he likes what he is seeing so far.

“It’s definitely exciting to have the guys back here with their gear on and skates on. As you know, yesterday was just fitness testing, so we got the guys on the ice today and running through some of our tempo. All in all, I thought it was a good first day,” said Head Coach Neil Graham.

Unlike last October’s training camp, which had several returning players, the Steelheads built their roster this summer with important core players. It gives them plenty of optimism this fall.

We have a lot of returners and there are guys that I’m really excited to have back when it’s all said and done, we may have seven to ten and that’s a lot at our level,” said Graham.

The goal remains the same for this year’s squad: make the playoffs, win a kelly cup, and don’t slow down when they hit the ice.

“Build on the success of last year and move forward to that direction. Touch on three or four things tomorrow and kind of go from there. We should be flying by the start of the year,” said Graham.

Idaho will open the season with four games against the Utah Grizzlies, with their first game at Centurylink on October 21.
