C of I Pitcher Zach Draper Drafted by Indians

Caldwell - College of Idaho left-handed pitcher Zach Draper was selected today by Cleveland Indians in the 30th Round on Day 3 of the Major League Baseball First-Year Players Draft.

Draper joins teammate Riley O’Brien, who was selected yesterday in the eighth round by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Draper earned All-NAIA West honors twice.  The southpaw walked just 40 batters and struck out 185 – ranking No. 6 all-time in strikeouts and No. 7 all-time in ERA.

It marks the first time since 1996 that two C of I players were drafted in the same year.  In all, Draper becomes the 13th C of I player drafted
