Lady Vandals advance to WAC Championship
Barr scores team-high 26 points
The Idaho women's basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Western Athletic Conference tournament with an 84-82 win over Utah State Friday afternoon.
Utah State led by as much as six points in the second half, but Idaho came back to take the lead, thanks to a 26-point effort from Stacey Barr.
The Vandals were up five with 42 seconds left in regulation, before the Aggies managed to tie the game at 82. However, Idaho's Addie Schivo hit two free throws with 11 seconds remaining to secure an 84-82 win.
The Vandals lost three of their last five games of the regular season by two points-apiece, but the bounces have been going their way in the WAC tournament.
"I told (them) you've got to keep fighting and good things will happen to us when we hit Las Vegas," said coach Jon Newlee. "The odds had to change if we kept fighting and playing like we were."
(3) Idaho will face (1) Seattle in the WAC championship at 1PM MT Saturday.
