NBA exhibition coming to Boise
Trail Blazers, Jazz to play at CenturyLink in October
In coordination with CenturyLink Arena staff, the Idaho Stampede announced Thursday that an NBA preseason game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Utah Jazz will be played at CenturyLink Arena this fall.
The October 11 contest will be the first NBA exhibition played in Boise in a decade. Arena management is attempting to pack in between 5,200 and 6,000 fans for the event. Stampede season ticket holders will get first dibs on tickets, which will go on sale to the general public August 1.
"This is amazing," said Stampede President and General Manager Steve Brandes. "Our fans are in for a real treat. They are going to get to see NBA all-stars and the potential rookie-of-the-year (Damian Lillard) here."
"If people came to the University of Idaho (versus) Boise State game this year, I think they saw an atmosphere that was pretty cool," said CenturyLink Arena President Eric Trapp. "I think with those two iconic NBA teams, we're going to see the same thing."
