Steelies fall in Smith's return
Utah wins 3-2 in shootout
The Idaho Steelheads fell to the Utah Grizzlies, 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday night.
Tyler Gron scored his 15th goal of the season to give Idaho a 1-0 lead in the first, but Utah's Alex Tuckerman tipped in a shot to tie the game moments later.
Sam Carrick gave the Steelheads the lead again early in the third, but the Grizzlies answered with another quick tally, this time off the stick of Gaelan Patterson.
Rookie phenom Austin Smith, who leads Idaho with 19 goals, was held scoreless in the goal column in his return to Boise (after being re-assigned by the AHL's Texas Stars).
The Steelheads will host the Grizzlies again Friday night at 7:10.
