The Boise State men's basketball team ripped off an 18-4 run to open the second half against Air Force on Wednesday, pulling away from the Falcons and winning 77-65.
The first few minutes of the game belonged to Jeff Elorriaga, who drained four threes, one game removed from a 1-for-9 performance against New Mexico.
The final 20 minutes... Were "The Anthony Drmic Show."
"He's one of the supreme competitors on this team," beamed head coach Leon Rice.
"That showed up in the variety of things he did: driving, dishing, rebounding, [making] some nice steals. He played a complete game."
Drmic poured in 21 of his 23 points in the second half, but according to Rice, Boise State's MVP was Derrick Marks.
"I think he had great presence about him, a veteran presence, not a rookie banging his chest and going over the top," said Rice.
"I thought he made great decisions all night long. In fact, I told him that it was one of his best games he's played here as a Bronco."
Marks scored 11 points, added 9 assists, and only turned the ball over once.
An unsung hero stepped up Wednesday night too- the team's "8th man," Thomas Bropleh. Coach Rice said Bropleh's numbers this year have been "awful," but Thomas had a huge game against the Falcons, scoring 10 points on just 4 shots.
"We've been waiting for Thomas in that way. He's had some injuries that have been tough for him, but he's fought through them very well, and I'm just proud of the way he's stuck with it," acknowledged Rice.
"That's what we need, we need that next guy to be able to come in and help us. If he'll go play like that, then his role is going to increase."
