Drmic, Marks driving Bronco offense
Two-man game working for BSU
Derrick Marks scored 12 of the Broncos first 14 points in the second half against Fresno State, and he did it mostly by attacking the basket.
Because Anthony Drmic is shooting 44% from three-point range, the defender on his side of the court can't help when Derrick drives.
"Most teams are just gonna stay on Drmic, so I like to drive to his side," noted Marks.
"I know his man isn't going to help, so I [can] just beat my man to the basket and make a play, or dish it off to the five-man."
Marks also found success kicking the ball back out to the perimeter, where Drmic was working to find an open look from long distance, something he did particularly well as Fresno's defense wore down. Anthony scored 13 of his 23 points in the final 9 minutes of play.
"I've just got to make plays for the team and do what I can," said Drmic.
"If I get open for the 3, I've got to knock that down. My teammates trust me, so I've got to knock that down."
Even when Drmic or Marks missed, Ryan Watkins was there to pull in the rebound. He racked up a career-high 18 boards against the Bulldogs, 8 of them offensive.
"I just want to help the team win. These guys [keep] putting up scoring, so I've got to do something," laughed Watkins. "So I've got to rebound. That's how I help this team, I rebound."
