After losing back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Boise State basketball team answered the bell with a win over Fresno State Wednesday night, doing so without a key contributor for the entire second half.

Jeff Elorriaga was inserted back into the starting lineup for the first time since the New Mexico game, in which Jeff suffered a concussion. Elorriaga played 18 minutes in the first half against Fresno, but only scored 3 points on 1-of-5 shooting before hitting his head on the floor just before halftime.

He stayed on the bench for the entire second half, and coach Leon Rice announced today that Elorriaga will not suit up for Saturday's game against Nevada and will "likely be out a while."

Elorriaga's presence will be missed, particularly from beyond the three point line, but the Broncos said having him on the bench is still a big plus for the morale of the team.

"We all know Jeff wants to be out there with us," said guard Derrick Marks.

"We can all hear him from the sidelines. It's like the same thing as him being out there, except we don't have that automatic three."
