When a huge chunk of Boise State's defense was drafted into the NFL two years ago, Coach Petersen knew he'd have to rely on contributions from young players in 2012.
Defensive end Sam Ukwuachu was one of the underclassmen who stepped up.
Monday, he was recognized for his efforts, earning Freshman All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America.
Ukwuachu played in all 13 games for the Broncos, starting in the last 12. He recorded 35 tackles, including 7 for a loss, while chipping in 4.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.
