Over the weekend, a collection of blog posts caused a bit of a stir amongst Boise State fans. Posts citing unnamed sources suggested Coach Petersen might be bound for the SEC, to replace John L. Smith as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The posts claimed that Arkansas staff had been telling recruits that Petersen would be the new face of the program. Although the claims were unsubstantiated to begin with, Petersen dispelled any doubt over the situation at Monday's press conference.

"It's just rumors. I don't even think half the time it's reporters," laughed Petersen.

"Everybody is a reporter these days. Everybody has got an opinion on a blog or something, so they throw it out, and 'Oh, it's gonna happen!'... And 99.9% it's always completely false."

Petersen mentioned that these sort of claims hurt his recruiting process, as players would be less likely to come to Boise if Petersen's prescence isn't guaranteed. His current players, however, aren't worried about their head coach leaving.

"We really don't worry about that," remarked Jamar Taylor.

"Whatever Coach Pete plans on to do, he's gonna do it...[and] he's been staying here. It's a great place... not that much crime, it's not a big city, he doesn't have to worry about his kids a lot. I think it's a great place, great fans, and a great school that keeps Coach Pete around here."
