Broncos to defend country's 10th longest home win streak
Defending you home court is always important, but it takes on new meaning when you hold the country’s 10th longest home winning streak. Such is the case for Boise State this weekend.
The Boise State men’s basketball team has won 15 straight games on Taco Bell Arena’s court. That ties them with the likes of Syracuse, Long Beach State and Central Florida.
“It’s always good when you’re winning at home,” said forward Thomas Bropleh today. “We’re going to try and keep that going.”
Home wins become even more important for the Broncos as they open up Mountain West conference play, featuring some of the toughest places to play in the nation.
“You’ve got to win the home games, because those are almost the easier games,” said guard Jeff Elorriaga. “The road games are hard. “The fans are always yelling at you, the refs always seem a little influenced, so the main thing is you have to win your home games.”
“We like to play in Taco Bell,” added Broncos head coach Leon Rice. “You’re going to see quality teams come in here. I think that’s good for us, but it’s not the arena that’s won us the games. It’s the way we’ve been playing and that’s what we have to focus on.”
Game time for Saturday’s game against Air Force is 4pm in Taco Bell Arena.
