73-year-old woman Patricia Ann Shannon was killed after a four-vehicle collision on Fairview Avenue Thursday afternoon.

On September 21, 2017, around 1:20 p.m., Meridian Police responded to a collision on westbound E. Fairview Avenue just east of Eagle Road.

The crash happened when a 2015 Honda SUV driven by Shelly Wilson,52, of Meridian, rear-ended a 2016 Buick stopped in traffic driven by Patricia Ann Shannon, 73, of Meridian. Shannon was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The force of the initial collision caused a chain reaction involving two other vehicles. There was no indication of any braking by Wilson before the crash.

Wilson was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and she will be transported to the Ada County Jail Manslaughter by DUI (drugs) upon her release.

Police say there was no indication Wilson slowed down before the collision.

Wilson was also taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. Police say Wilson will be booked after she is released from the hospital.
