Garden Valley, ID - Warmer and much drier conditions continue to increase fire activity. Today, it is likely for smoke columns to develop as the fire activity significantly increases.

The Pioneer Fire is at 183,508 acres with 56 percent contained, and 1,110 firefighters are working on this fire.

Through the weekend, the public is advised to drive cautiously and slowly along Forest Service road 579, due to an increase in fire traffic and smoke in the area.

The fire camp at Lowman will be dismantled today as crews moved to Garden Valley and Bruce Meadows. The airstrip at Bruce Meadows will be closed to accommodate these resources.

All properties throughout Lowman will remain at Level 1 evacuations. The summer homes in Long Creek remain at Level 2 evacuations until further notice.

Evacuations have been rescinded for Garden Valley (South Fork Road, east of the Grimes Pass Road and the Banks Lowman Road east of Danskin Station) and Pioneerville.
