Eagle Police are looking for suspects accused of breaking into two homes on Shalimar Drive in Eagle and stealing guns, jewelry and a van.

The thieves were able to steal a two hundred pound locked gun safe from inside one of the homes that had 18 guns inside.

The safe was later found in a ditch in Middleton with the bottom cut out and the guns missing.

Officers were called to one of the homes on December 27th when the homeowners returned to find that someone had broken into their home and rummaged through their possessions.

Dresser drawers were turned over and presents had been unwrapped and emptied. Jewelry was missing and a rifle and shotgun had been taken. Footprints were found outside of the home.

On December 30th, an officer found an abandoned 2004 Pontiac Montana in a subdivision about five miles away from Shalimar Drive.

When the owners were contacted, police realized that the mini-van was stolen from a house next door to the other ransacked home on Shalimar Drive.

The thieves did take a gun safe (which police say would have taken more than one person to move) and placed it into the mini-van that they stole.

Police believe that the suspects drove the van to the Legacy subdivision, unloaded the stolen items into a different vehicle and ditched the van.

Eagle Police are actively working the cases and investigating leads. They would like to talk to anyone who has information or might have seen something unusual in the Shalimar Drive area in the days leading up to Christmas.

Both families were gone at the time of thefts and detectives believe that it could have been a factor in why the homes were targeted.
