TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- The City Council has approved the appointment of Nampa police Chief Craig Kingsbury as head of the Twin Falls police force.

The Times-News reported the council approved his appointment with a unanimous vote Monday. Kingsbury is resigning from the Nampa department Dec. 17.

Kingsbury replaces Capt. Bryan Krear, who was appointed interim chief when Brian Pike was promoted to deputy city manager for public safety almost a year ago. Krear plans to retire at the end of this year.

Kingsbury says he sees parallels between Nampa and Twin Falls, making him prepared to tackle the challenges of a growing city.
