A 16-year-old teenager accused of stealing a Ford Escort sustained non-life threatening injuries after crashing into a bridge pillar on Cole Road near Barrister Drive.

Around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, a patrol deputy on Overland Road noticed the Ford weaving in-and-out of the lane and switching lanes without a signal.

The deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over when the Ford took off near Goldking Way.

The driver was going over 80 mph and running red lights according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

A different patrol deputy deployed spike strips at the Barrister Drive and Cole Road intersection which caused the teen to lose control and drive into the concrete pillar.

The teen was determined to be a runaway and the ACSO is recommending that the teen should be charged with felony eluding and theft charges in connection with the case by the Ada County Juvenile Prosecutor’s office.
