"Today is an exciting day for all of us," said Marty Hill, Hill Farms.

The Hill family homesteaded land off of South Eagle and West Amity road back in the 1800’s. They have been farming it ever since.

"Meridian has been good to my family and I wanted to give back to the community," said Hill.

Now they are planting the seed for a new generation and for Marty and Dixie Hill, it's a dream come true.

"This is a vision we've had now for the last 10, 11 years so we're so excited that it can finally come together," said Hill.

It's called “The Hill” campus and it's all possible because of several partners who worked together with the same vision.

"This is a way that we can give back to the community by donating fifteen acres for the park and the Y," said Hill.

A new YMCA will be adjacent to the existing Hillside Elementary. The city park is projected to follow in the spring.

A library branch and an indoor pool are proposed as part of the facility. Those two are pending funding and they will be on a bond on this November's ballot.

Marty said just like his land, he's also on to a new stage of life.

"And more importantly, it's more fun to look at it from the point of view with the kids and watching the kids grow with a nice school, a Y, a park, it's going to be very exciting.," said Hill.

It's all part of a bigger picture to strengthen community identity and create a welcoming place for people of all ages.
