Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a string of home burglaries in Boise and Meridian. Craig Getzloff, 51, of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail Wednesday afternoon following an investigation utilizing “good old-fashioned police work,” according to Meridian Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea.

Meridian Police Department’s Impact Team and Boise Police Department’s Property Crimes detectives had been following Getzloff -- a suspect in several Meridian burglaries -- when he reportedly forced entry into an unoccupied Boise home in the area of Shenandoah and Haines Street, Basterrechea said.

“We believe he is responsible for at least six and possibly eight burglaries here in Meridian and numerous burglaries in Ada County,” he said.

Police believe Getzloff targeted open houses and/or posed as a real estate agent to gain entry into houses that are for sale, allegedly stealing prescription medication and jewelry.

Getzloff is currently facing a single felony burglary charge, but more charges could be filed, police said.

“There is a definite possibility there may be other victims out there; people who perhaps have not reported the thefts,” Basterrechea stated.

If you recognize Getzloff or have had any contact with him, you are encouraged to call the Meridian Police Department or the Boise Police Department through the Ada County Dispatch non-emergency number, 377-6790.
