A 17-year-old male was found shot to death Tuesday evening in a residence in the 5000 block of Highway 52, near New Plymouth.
“We have ruled out a suicide,” said Payette County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Andy Creech. “But we are still trying to determine if this is an accidental shooting or a homicide.”
Two others were in the home at the time of the shooting. One of the witnesses called police, Creech said.
The Idaho State Police is assisting with the investigation.
“We are such a small department, we call in the state police in a case of this nature to help us out with collecting evidence and processing the scene,” Creech explained.
Investigators believe the shooting was “an isolated event,” and there is no threat to the community.
“Nobody is on the loose,” Creech said.
Detectives seized a number of weapons from the home, Creech said. But he did not provide details.
The investigation is ongoing
No arrest have been made.
No further details were released.
