Castle’s Corner is putting the magic back into the Magic Valley -- one Idaho Lottery jackpot winner at a time.

Twin Falls resident David Cates bought a jackpot winning “Weekly Grand” draw ticket for last Wednesday night’s draw from the Castle’s Corner on Pole Line Road at Parkview Road. According to State Lottery officials, Idaho’s last “Weekly Grand” jackpot winning ticket was also sold at the same store last winter.

Cates told Lottery officials he has been playing the same numbers since March, after his mother stopped playing them. “Two months of keeping his mother’s old numbers alive turned into a jackpot win for Cates, as he became Idaho’s twenty-eighth ‘Weekly Grand’ jackpot winner and the second consecutive jackpot winner from Castles Corner in Twin Falls,” said Lottery spokesman Dave Workman.,

“‘Weekly Grand’ is my game,” said Cates, college student.

“The winning ticket was worth $77,380, which after withholding taxes are paid by the Idaho Lottery, earns Cates $1,000 a week, every week, for the next year,” Workman said.

Cates said he’ll put his weekly $1,000 toward his education. He is studying Library and Information Science at the College of Southern Idaho. “I always have a book in my hand; from the first time I volunteered my time at a library I knew that this was the profession I wanted to be in,” Cates explained.

The Idaho Lottery has never had consecutive jackpot winners on a Draw Game sold from the exact same retail location, according to Workman.

“Weekly Grand” is played only in Idaho, with drawings on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
