A man walking his dog came upon human remains in the Heyburn State Park Sunday -– and authorities say the remains are likely those of a woman missing for two years.

Jacquelyn Grider was last seen the morning of June 1, 2015. Reports say she was suffering the early stages of dementia. Grider was from California, but reportedly spent summers near the Heyburn State Park.

Investigators with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office say several undisclosed items found near the remains lead them to believe the body is Grider’s. The remains were found about two miles from where Grider was last seen.

Deputies searched the area for a week after Grider disappeared, but found no trace of her.

The remains have been sent to forensic experts for positive identification.
