Treasure Valley freshman wins Google award

Google surprised a Mountain View High School freshman with the Doodle 4 Google award during a surprise assembly.

Melanie Ann Korsgaard was one of 53 winners in the country with her doodle titled, “Dreams of Wolves.”

Her artwork was one of 100,000 pieces that Google received this year which encouraged students to use non-traditional media.

Now Korsgaard is eligible to win the grand prize if she is voted for on the website found here.

Voting is open from February 5th to February 22nd which will whittle down the competitors to five national finalists.

A national winner will be announced on March 21st which will result in a lucky student having their doodle on Google’s homepage and winning the following:

• A $30,000 college scholarship
• A $50,000 Google for Education grant for his or her school
• A trip to the Google Headquarters in California to meet the Google Doodlers, and the opportunity to nominate a teacher to come on the trip
• A Chromebook
• An Android tablet
• A t-shirt printed with his or her doodle on it
