A Meridian man is in the Ada County Jail after reportedly kicking an officer and attempting to steal is Taser gun.

It happened in the 500 block of NW First Street about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea.

Officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at the address and eventually arrested Jacob Seward, 18.

“While handcuffed, (Seward) kicked an officer and attempted to steal his Taser gun,” Basterrechea said. “But the suspect was unable to get it out of the officer’s holster.”

The officer was uninjured.

Seward faces charges of assault and battery upon a law enforcement officer, resisting and obstructing officers (both misdemeanors) and a felony charge of attempting to remove a weapon from a law enforcement officer.
