A man was charged on Thursday for causing the recent Henry’s Creek Fire.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Investigators cited Kristian J. Lopez, 19 of Ammon, ID, for Misdemeanor Careless Burning of Prairie Land as it related to the recent Henry’s Creek Fire.
Lopez is currently in the Bonneville County Jail on unrelated warrants.
After receiving anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Investigators from the BLM were able to locate Lopez and interview him about his part in the start of the fire.
Lopez told officers that he was in the area of Henry Creek Rd. and Taylor Mountain Rd. shooting bottle rockets when the fire started. He and his friends attempted to put the fire out but was unsuccessful and called 911 to report the fire before leaving the area.
The aftermath of this fire event resulted in thousands of acres burned throughout Bonneville County.
Fire investigators advised this information from Lopez was consistent with their conclusions in the investigation.
