A Boise man has been arrested after a woman reported seeing him in her yard and peering through her window.

The investigation started August 22, according to police, when a woman living in the area of West Fort and North 10th Streets in Boise reported seeing a man peering through her window. Police said the woman and her two minor children live in the home.

Officers searched the area, but were unable to find the man.

Over the next few weeks, investigators “found evidence that the man had returned to the victim’s yard on multiple occasions,” a Boise Police news release stated. The suspect was identified as Matthew Charles Mayer, 64, of Boise.

Police arrested Mayer on Wednesday. He was booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of first-degree stalking.,

Officers are asking anyone who may have any information on Mayer -- or feel they may be an additional victim -- or anyone else who may have noticed similar suspicious behavior, to please contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.  Those with information can also leave a web tip at 343COPS.com, or use the Boise Police Department’s free app, P3. You can get the app on I-Tunes or in the Google Play Store by typing “P3 tips” in the search bar.

Those with information can remain anonymous and can earn a reward of up to $1000.00 if the tip leads to a felony arrest.
