Owyhee County murder suspect now charged with soliciting a child for sex
A man already in the Owyhee County Jail facing a murder charge in the death of his wife has now been indicted for soliciting a child for a sexual act.
Rodney Bibbey, 37, faces a first degree murder charge in relation to the death of his wife last April.
Originally, investigators thought Trina Bibbey, 35, had died at her Marsing home after being pinned under her car while changing the oil.
Rodney Bibbey told police the jack holding the vehicle at the time had slipped.
Authorities initially ruled the death as accidental.
According to Owyhee County Prosecutor Doug Emery, an expert determined that the jack was in proper working condition and could not have malfunctioned.
During the course of that investigation, Emery said detectives found evidence that Bibbey reportedly solicited a child for a sexual act.
According to court documents, the sex crime took place three years ago, when the female victim was about twelve years old.
The documents said Bibbey “asked (the victim) questions about sexual intercourse while holding a sexual vibrator in his hand.” Bibbey reportedly “ .. showed or touched (the victim) with it and asked (the victim) if she would like him to show her how to use it.” Being a juvenile, the documents did not identify the victim. Nor did they say how Bibbey knew the victim.
Bibbey made his initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon. The judge denied his bail request.
Bibbey’s next court appearance is set for April 12 at 9 a.m.
