Gene Harris Jazz Festival 2013
The 16th annual Gene Harris Jazz Festival gets under way Wednesday and Thursday, March 20-21, in the Boise State University Student Union Building.
This year’s theme is Big Band and features jazz trombonist Scott Whitfield and saxophonist Mark Taylor, along with the Gene Harris Festival Superband. Evening concerts will include charts from the Gene Harris Superband library that have not been performed for audiences for more than two decades.
Educational clinics and performances with junior high and high school jazz bands will take place from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. both days on the second floor of the Student Union. The winning band of the day will perform at 7 p.m. each evening, followed by headliner concerts at 8 p.m. each night.
One-day all event passes for the festival are $15. To buy tickets or learn more, visit www.geneharris.org.
