Nampa man arrested after high-speed chase
A Nampa man is in the Canyon County Jail after leading police on a high-speed chase early Monday morning.
About 1 a.m., police spotted what they described as a "suspected impaired driver" on Caldwell Boulevard near Karcher Road.
The chase went eastbound on Caldwell Boulevard, with the driver reportedly running stop signs and red lights.
The vehicle, a green 1996 Ford minivan, was stolen out of Caldwell, according to investigators. Officers were able to deploy spike strips, which flattened the right front tire of the vehicle. The suspect continued driving on the rim and eventually came to a stop on South Powerline Road near East Iowa Ave, said officers.
Police say the suspect resisted officers, so they used a Taser to subdue him. Benny Sanchez Jr., 27, of Nampa was then taken into custody. He was charged with DUI, felony eluding, grand theft, resisting arrest, and having an invalid driver’s license.
