Draft plan released for Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge
On Thursday, a new draft plan for changes to the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge in southwest Idaho was released by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The plan includes significant changes to a 2011 draft plan. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is attempting to balance its responsibility to manage a wildlife refuge with local residents recreational desires.
The new plan eliminates proposed no-wake zones and closes small portions of the lake where birds gather to help preserve bird populations.
