Idaho Peace Officers Graduate from POST Academy

Saturday morning, Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) held a graduation ceremony for Patrol Academy #174 at the POST Academy in Meridian. The 39 graduates will represent law enforcement agencies from throughout the state of Idaho.

The graduates were addressed by POST Administrator Whilliam L. Fink, Boise Police Department Deputy Chief William Bones, Class President Colby Martin, POST Training Specialist Tim Braseth and 4th District Judge Patrick Owen.

In Idaho all peace officers are required to complete a 10 week basic academy to be certified. The curriculum focuses on knowledge and practical skills needed for patrol duties.

Graduates will complete additional training required by the law enforcement agency that they will be employed with.

POST certifies approximately 1,800 Idaho criminal justice professionals each year including- patrol, dispatch, adult and juvenile corrections, detention, and probation and parole officers.
