Boise State could go to NCAA tournament
WIn in Las Vegas would be huge
Boise State can control its own fate if it keeps winning, and basketball fans couldn't be more excited. The Broncos are headed to Las Vegas where they can move on if they take care of business. Some people say the Broncos will go to the big dance no matter what happens in Vegas. But, you know they Broncos won’t take any chances. The team knows that a win in Vegas makes going to March madness almost a sure thing.
It's not a slam dunk though.
“We know we've gotta take care of our own business; if we keep wining I’m sure we'll get in,” said Jeff Elorriaga, Boise State Basketball Guard.
But, if Boise State wins its first game at the Mountain West tournament it's almost a guarantee they'll go on to the big dance.
“They're doing good this year, so I hope they good in the tournament,” said Colton Sdao, a BSU student.
Basketball fans are loving it.
“Like last year, I hear they didn't do as well as they are, but this year they're really surprising everyone,” said Nate Wilder, a BSU student.
BSU has only been to the NCAA tournament five times in its entire history and now it’s so close the fans can taste it. Students say while they love the football team it’s nice to have something else to cheer about.
“Since this school is starting to expand all of our sports and everything area really starting to like grow,” said Sdao.
“So we're not known just for football, known as a pretty good basketball team too,” said Wilder.
While sports prognosticators are already putting the team in a tournament bracket the players know they have to take one game at a time. Winning the first one against the Aztecs Wednesday would be a huge selling point to get them in the tournament.
“We know we have post season implications, so we’re just trying to take our time, one game at a time. One more win against San Diego State would look good on our resume.
Now if you want to avoid all of the second guessing and if you can wait until Sunday, that's when the NCAA selection show is on and we'll know for sure if the Broncos are going to the big dance.
