Driver takes own life, crashes car
Boise Police are investigating a single vehicle crash in a residential neighborhood near Cole and Overland Roads that has involved the death of one person.
Shortly before 2 p.m., Ada County dispatchers sent emergency crews to the 7800 block of Hummel Drive on a report of a vehicle into a structure.
When crews arrived, they learned a car had crashed into a backyard shed. Neighbors tell us of hearing at least one shot being fired.
“At this time, it appears the individual driving the car died by suicide. Officers on scene have found evidence of a self-inflicted gunshot wound that likely occurred while the driver was behind the wheel, causing the driver to lose control, drive through a yard and crash into a fence,” Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said in a news release.
“Due to the circumstances, no further details will be released,” she added.
