Crews to repair fire-damaged stretch of Interstate 84
Idaho Transportation Department crews will repair a portion of Interstate 84 badly damaged by the mid-January truck fire this Wednesday, March 13.
The fire happened in the eastbound lane near the East Boise Port of Entry
Maintenance crews will remove and replace a four-inch-deep, 100-foot-long section of highway, working first in the left lane and then in the right lane.
“Traffic control measures will be set up starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, with work scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 miles per hour,” said ITD spokesman Reed Hollinshead.
“The cost of the repair is estimated to be at least $9,300, which will be paid by the insurance carrier for United Oil, the truck that burned on Jan. 18 at milepost 67.6,” he added.
