Nampa baby dies after being run over by car
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) -- An 11-month-old Nampa child has died after falling out of a car and being run over.
Police in Nampa say the child's mother had put the baby and a 2-year-old into the car Thursday afternoon when a third child opened the door to get in and the baby fell out.
Police say the mother got out to pick up the baby, not realizing the car was in gear. The car rolled backward and ran over the mother and the baby and continued rolling another 90 feet before crashing into a parked car.
The mother and 11-month-old were taken to the hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead. The mother's injuries were not life-threatening. The two other children were uninjured.
Police say none of the children were in car seats or wearing seat belts.
