A traffic accident south of downtown Eagle has prompted police to shut down both southbound lanes of Eagle Road between State St. and Colchester Dr., near the Banbury Golf Course. The northbound lanes were also blocked, but one lane has since reopened.

Ada County dispatchers tell us a vehicle hit a power pole in that area. The accident happened about 2 p.m. and the driver, an elderly woman, was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Three Idaho Power trucks were driving by shortly after the accident happened and were able to control the down power lines.

Idaho Power said the vehicle damaged a primary power line in the area, knocking out power to some 966 utility customers. Crews on the scene repaired the line and Idaho Power had power restored to all customers within an hour. The outage stretches from Cloverdale Road to the Eagle Island State Park, and includes those living along Highway 44 (State St.) and Highway 55.
