State workers sound off at Legislative “listening session”
Members of the Idaho Legislature heard from dozens of state workers Monday afternoon in what was billed as a legislative “listening session.”
The session was to give state employees a chance to speak out about their employment and working conditions.
Subjects included the lack of wage increases and advancement opportunities, the deterioration of some state facilities, difficulties some workers reportedly have encountered in working through the state’s problem-solving procedures, concerns over heavy workloads, etc.
Spokespersons of some groups of workers say this is the first time state employees have had a chance to express their opinions to lawmakers in a formal setting..
We have a reporter attending the meeting and will bring you more details tonight at 9 pm on Fox 9 News at 9 -- and at 10 pm on Today’s Channel 6 News.
