Inmate dies in Bonneville County
Deputies from the Bonneville County jail say inmate James Slate Dewitt, age 47, died Saturday morning at the facility.
Deputies found Dewitt not breathing at approximately 05:50 a.m. They administered CPR until Idaho Falls Paramedics determined that the inmate was deceased.
Dewitt was currently living in Idaho Falls. He was arrested on a probation violation Friday. A Tri- County investigative team is investigating the incident.
An autopsy has been ordered by the coroner. This is a normal operating procedure for an in-custody death.
