Mining for new projects
Mining remains a major industry for the state of Idaho, but industry leaders say they want to do more.
Leaders from nine of the largest mining companies in the state met with lawmakers at the statehouse today. They say the federal government is creating a backlog of mining projects in the state. And it's holding them back from hiring local workers.
The mining leaders asked state lawmakers to help lobby federal agencies like the environmental protection agency and the bureau of land management to help get mining projects approved and operating faster.
