Idaho Power: Hispanic customers report phone scam
Some Hispanic customers are reporting phone calls -- in Spanish -- from individuals claiming to be Idaho Power employees and threatening to disconnect their power service, said Idaho Power Communication Specialist Anne Alenskis.
“The phone scammers are asking for personal information and demanding customers make a payment within 24 to 48 hours. Customers first began reporting the calls to Idaho Power’s Customer Service Center last May,” she said.
Idaho Power strongly encourages customers to NOT provide any personal information to the callers, and to guard themselves against potential identity theft.
Customers who are concerned about the legitimacy of calls from Idaho Power are advised to contact the company’s Customer Service Center at 388-2323, or 1-800-488-6151 from outside the Treasure Valley.
