The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office says a man whose body was found in a home outside Nampa city limits Thursday died from multiple gunshot wounds.

At a news conference late Friday afternoon,. Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue identified the victim as 59-year-old George Richardson Jr.

On Thursday, authorities only said the man had died under “suspicious circumstances.” But an autopsy conducted by the Canyon County Coroner Friday determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds.

About 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a possible deceased man at a house in 1900 block of South Powerline Road.

Detectives later determined a 1997 Jeep Wrangler is missing from the home. The Jeep is red with a black top. They say the vehicle is a “key element” in the case.

Investigators do not yet have a motive for the killing.

Anyone seeing this vehicle is urged to notify their local law enforcement agency or the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office at 454-7531. Also, if you have information about the murder, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS (343-2677).
