Southeast Idaho man gets 10 years for eluding police
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- A southeast Idaho man who led police on a high-speed chase into oncoming traffic has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
41-year-old Francisco P. Tarin of Idaho Falls was sentenced Thursday in Seventh District Court. Tarin previously pleaded guilty to two counts of felony eluding police.
Tarin must serve at least three and a half years before he's eligible for parole.
Tarin on Oct. 2 fled from police by driving the wrong way on Interstate 15, reaching speeds of 120 mph.
Police abandoned the pursuit fearing others were being put in danger. Tarin was eventually taken into custody after ditching the vehicle and stealing a boat and trying to hide on an island in the Snake River.
