I-84 open after dense fog and multiple crashes shut down intersate
Officials say dense fog and icy road conditions may have been contributing factors in a number of accidents southeast of Boise.
One accident involved a single vehicle that rolled onto its top.
Another involved the driver of a station wagon who rear-ended a Boise Fire Department engine. The engine’s crews had pulled to the shoulder to assist those in another vehicle collision. The station wagon’s driver was transported to a hospital with what officials are calling non-life-threatening injuries. The Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
No serious injuries were reported in any of the accidents. The accidents were first reported shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. ISP worked multiple crashes on both the east and west sides of I-84 between mileposts 55 near the Broadway interchange, just before the Gowen Exit and 61 near the Blacks Creek rest area.
The Interstate between those areas was closed for about two hours to both eastbound and westbound traffic until all crashes could be cleared.
