U.S. Forest Service to hold job fair
On Monday, February 11th between 12:30 and 4 p.m., representatives will be available to discuss job opportunities with the United States Forest Service at six Department of Labor Offices. The event will be held simultaneously in Caldwell, Meridian, Boise, Mountain Home, Emmett and McCall.
“This is an exciting first-time event that we hope will provide information on the many job opportunities within the national forests in southwest Idaho,” said Marie Louise Smith, Boise National Forest Deputy Forest Supervisor. “A job with the Forest Service provides benefits to the public and the forest that is challenging, stimulating and rewarding so we hope anyone interested in learning more will visit.”
Jobs available are predominantly seasonal -- mainly during the summer. Opportunities include fire management positions, recreation (trail building or campground maintenance, etc.), biologist technician positions in wildlife and fisheries, and engineering technician jobs.
“Those who choose to attend can learn more about job opportunities, how to apply, and even complete an application on-site,” said Robin Hollis, a Idaho Department of Labor workforce consultant.
The agencies encourage anyone that may have an interest to attend at any time during the afternoon. Seasonal jobs are often a stepping stone to permanent jobs.
