A Nampa man escaped injury Friday, after he lost control on his car and crashed headlong into a Caldwell insurance office.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Laster Lane and E. Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell for a report of a traffic accident involving a vehicle that had crashed into the American Family Insurance office at 6115 E. Cleveland Blvd.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle completely inside the building.

They say Carlos Velazquez, 20, of Nampa, was traveling westbound on Cleveland Blvd. in his 2004 Silver Ford Focus. He started to make a lane change and lost control. His car left the roadway, struck a stop sign, went over the landscaping, into a parking lot and came to rest inside the American Family Insurance building.

Velazquez was not injured. There were no employees inside the business at the time.

Police say the damage to the building was about $50,000. They say neither alcohol nor drugs were involved.

Velazquez was charged with driving too fast for the conditions.
